Creator Commentary
In 1987, after several years of animated success on the small screen, G.I. Joe was to receive their own animated feature film! For some inexplicable reason they changed their winning formula of fighting Cobra ("a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world") to fighting a subterranean reptilian people who were Cobra's founders. Kirk Bozigian explains how this happened.
