1983 G.I.Joe Electric Train and Battle Set (Tyco)
The Electric Train and Battle Set features beautiful painted box art by Bart Doe. Doe was known for painting everything from movie posters to Revell model kits. Bart Doe was a pseudonym used by American animator and comic book artist Peter J. Alvarado, Jr. Alvarado worked as an animator from the 1930s until retirement in 1999. Alvarado was the recipient of the 2001 Winsor McCay Award and the Animation Guild's 1987 Golden Award.

The 5 Unit G.I.Joe Train Set
The Electric Train and Battle Set features dozens of vehicles, figures and accessories. The primary attraction is the 5 unit electric train set.

G.I.Joe and Cobra equipment
Both Cobra and G.I.Joe come equipped with two tanks and a jeep. The Joes also have a helicopter and a boat, while Cobra has a bridge.

G.I.Joe and Cobra troops
Cobra and G.I.Joe come equipped with 26 troops each. The Joes have 4 leaders, 4 communications officers, 4 grenadiers, 6 aiming infantry, 3 running infantry, 3 bazooka men, and 2 paratroopers. Cobra has 4 leaders, 4 communications officers, 4 bazooka men, 4 aiming infantry, 4 walking infantry, 3 running infantry, 2 paratroopers, 1 grenadier.

Paratroopers came equipped with the parachutes seen below. Two of each parachute were *supposed to be* included (see video below).

The Electric Train and Battle Set documented on this page was a MIB sample. We documented the unboxing for the community to enjoy!
It was determined after making this video that the Electric Train and Battle Set was first made available in 1983, as seen in the 1983 Sears Wishbook. It appeared again in the 1984 Wishbook. The box is dated 1983, as can be seen in the "box details" section below.
