"When I'm working in combat zones with bullets ripping past my ears, I know I'll either save a wounded soldier, or become one!"
LIFELINE was a paramedic with the Seattle Fire Department for five years before enlisting in the Army as a corpsman. Because of his rescue talent and experience in emergency situations, he joined the G.I.Joe team to aid soldiers wounded during firefights with Cobra. To get to the injured, Lifeline often has to fight his way to their location, which is why he carries a grappling hook launcher and grenade pistol along with his extensive assortment of medical supplies. Most EMS (Emergency Medical Service) personnel treat patients behind the lines, Lifeline treats them ON the lines because every second counts when it comes to saving lives!

Filecard variant:
There were three versions of 1994 Lifeline released. The first two were made in China. Early filecards used the traditional format, while later filecards were formatted to a smaller "baseball card" size and the text was edited down to fit. Both were made in China, while the later were also made in Indonesia.
In 1994, Hasbro produced figures in China and Indonesia. This resulted in several paint app variants. To compound matters further, Hasbro also changed the card art on some figures from the older horizontal logo (with a red or blue laser backdrop) to a new vertical logo (with a red or blue to black gradient background). The back of the new card also featured a reformatted baseball card sized file card with condensed writing. Several figures did not get the new vertical card art treatment. Lifeline did get the vertical logo treatment.
Lifeline has two paint app variants: one with a solid red chest and the other with grey and black details. There are two carded figure variants, the horizontal logo card marked "MADE IN CHINA" (above) and the vertical logo card also marked "MADE IN CHINA" (below).
