1990 Locust

With Cobra advancing on all fronts, Gen. Hawk orders the Locust to smash their lead assault vehicles and stop them in their tracks!

NOTE: Although the box art showed Topside manning the Locust, and he's pictured above, he did NOT come with the Locust. 

The Locust is a "Bomb Dropping Assault Copter!" 

​The Locust features several moving parts and removable parts, and the sculpt is nicely detailed.

With Cobra advancing on all fronts, General Hawk orders the Locust to smash their lead assault vehicles and stop them in their tracks!

Cobra's lead assault vehicles don't stand a chance against the Locust's two dual, side-mounted armor-shattering machine guns, two heat-seeking, low noise, air-to-air missiles, and two directional bombs.

The Locust can land anywhere securely with its titanium supported, damage resistant landing skids.

Each landing skid sports a personnel transportation security platform, allowing the Locust to carry up to two more Joes into battle.

The rear stabilizer helps the Locust maintain proper in-flight balance.

The aerodynamic, high-tech propeller blades keep the Locust aloft in transit and combat. There is no mechanism or feature to automatically spin the blades, but the blades do freely rotate manually.

Each side of the Locust is armed with a dual, armor-shattering machine gun and a heat-seeking, low-noise, air-to-air missile. Each gun can swivel 360 degrees vertically, and each missile can be manually removed (and then directed at Cobra forces).

The Locust's pilot can fly confidently knowing that they are protected by a blast-proof, plexiform, transparent windscreen canopy.

The Locust seats only a single pilot.

The cockpit interior features tech detail on both the control panel and the side panels.

The cockpit also features the figure restraining clip that was present in many vehicles of this period.

The tail propeller housing can be rotated along its vertical axis.

The tail propeller's turbine piece rotates manually via the handle. The rear section also features sculpted detail of hoses and wiring.

The right side of the propeller does not have a symmetrical design to the left side, to accommodate the turbine spinning feature.

The propeller activation regulator is housed in the recesses of the tail section. The right side features similar sculpted detail of hoses and wiring, though the actual details do not exactly match the left side.

In addition to the visible offensive armaments, the bomb bay doors hold two directional bombs.

When the bomb bay door is opened, the bombs drop on Cobra ground forces. Note: the two bombs and the two missiles are the same mold, and can therefore be used interchangeably. They are considered missiles when the pointed end faces forward, and considered bombs when the flattened end faces down.
