G.I.JOE Limited Edition Lt. Joseph Colton Green Beret Hall of Fame Figure paperwork
Collector Gabriel Corti shared the following letter which included returned G.I.JOE proof-of-purchase points (Flag Points were no longer in use) and a check for $1 handling. The G.I.JOE Limited Edition Lt. Joseph Colton Green Beret Hall of Fame Figure sold out and Hasbro sent this letter to any collector that did not receive the figure. The check is dated 11/16/94. Next to the proof-of-purchase points Hasbro wrote: "Thank you for your order in Hasbro's Limited Edition GI Joe Lt. Joseph Colton Figure Offer. Previously, we had informed you that the figure would arrive after 9/30/94. However, due to the overwhelming response, our supply has been depleted and Hasbro will not be producing any more. Attached are the proofs of purchase and a check for the money you submitted. We appreciate your interest in Hasbro products and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. Sincerely, Young America Corporation for Hasbro, Inc.
Collector Gabriel Corti shared the following undated letter and recalled that it was sent a few months after the refund check shown above. This letter tells collectors that Hasbro would be sending them a special Limited Edition "Artic [sic] Assault" Lt. Joseph Colton as a replacement for the original that sold out. Hasbro did not require proof-of-purchase points or the $1 handling payment for this figure. It came free of charge. The letter reads:
"Dear Hasbro Consumer:
Thank you for your recent interest in the G.I. Joe Limited Edition Lt. Joseph Colton Green Beret Hall of Fame Figure. As you know, supplies of this figure were quickly depleted and you should have received back your UPC Proofs of Purchase and Postage & Handling in the mail. We had a tremendous response to this Limited Edition offer and know that there were many dedicated G.I. Joe supporters, like yourself, that were disappointed.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We are pleased to notify you that although we were not able to satisfy your initial order for the Green Beret Figure, we are in the process of producing a special Limited Edition "Artic Assault"
Lt. Joseph Colton. Consumers that submitted their UPC's by the promotion's expiration date, January 31, 1995, will receive this new figure. It is important for you to know that we will only be making enough of these figures to fulfill requests that were received by the promotion's expiration date and we will not be taking any additional orders.
Unfortunately, due to manufacturing limitations and schedules, the figure will not be available to ship until September 30, 1995, at which time we will mail the figure directly to you.
Customer satisfaction is our #1 priority at Hasbro. We thank you for your continued loyalty to our REAL AMERICAN HERO, G.I Joe!! As G.I. Joe begins his fourth decade, we hope that you will continue to enjoy his many heroic adventures in the years - decades - to come!!
Sincerely,
