1989 Arctic Blast

NOTE: Although the box art showed Stalker and Scoop manning the Arctic Blast, only Windchill was included.

The Arctic Blast features several moving and removable parts, and the sculpt is nicely detailed.

When there is a (massive spiked) wheel, there is a way!

The rear section does not include a tow hook.

The rear portion of the roll cage features “Laser Blast” high-intensity triple housing lights to illuminate the path.

The lighting system apparently generates a large amount of heat even in the Arctic, so the system is equipped with a thermal coolant pump to keep it working optimally.

The rear section contains two 7.62 MM coaxial firing double barreled machine guns, one on each side.

To operate the machine guns, each side offers an air foil/personnel platform on which a figure could stand.

A 225 HP LFV-30 turbodiesel engine, with 4 speed transmission, powers the vehicle.

The vehicle is outfitted with two “Puncher “ studded rugged terrain oversized tires. Each tire featured limited-slip driver override differential.

The front section features “Chain Gang” gatling guns that fire armor piercing 30 MM rounds. The guns can each be rotated manually, with the gear teeth in the middle allowing for both barrels to be rotated simultaneously.

The very front of the vehicle features three heavy-duty skid plate/directional vertical runners.

The side-mounted avalanche-class “Cool Cruiser” surface to surface missiles provide additional firepower.

The missiles can be more accurately deployed thanks to the all weather target acquisition/thermal missile guidance system.

The cockpit seats a single figure, with the figure being secured by a seat belt that extends from the left shoulder to the right side.

The cockpit is protected by a multi-point reinforced roll cage.

The driver control panel provides a few gauges, as well as a servo assist “Joystick” control (though this control is neither included in the mold details, nor is it simulated via label detail).

Windchill's skis can be stored beside the cockpit for safe transport.

Winchill's rifle can also be stored on the side, though this feature appears to be a fortunate coincidence rather than specifically planned.
