1987 Lunchbox (Aladdin)

|
This plastic G.I.Joe: A Real American Hero lunchbox was created by Aladdin Industries, who dominated the consumer lunch products category from the 1950s-1980s due to a strategic move in the early 1950s to license popular characters' images on its products.
The airbrushed artwork featured on the front of this lunchbox was created by Doug Hart for the 1987 product catalog. This was his first big contribution to the G.I.Joe brand, and he would go on to paint the majority of G.I.Joe packaging art once Hasbro pulled that work back entirely in house in 1989. The included Thermos featured a line art version of the Hart's illustration showcasing the 1987 Joes and Cobras. Roll over the images below to find out more, or click the images to enlarge them.
