1989 Raider

The Raider is a heavily armed battle tank that converts to two combat units!

The detachable front scout vehicle features a pivoting chin gun.

The missile rack extends to reveal two needle-nose missiles.

NOTE: Although the box art showed Rock 'n Roll manning the Raider, and he's pictured above, he did NOT come with the Raider. 

The Raider features several moving parts and removable parts, and the sculpt is incredibly detailed.

The Raider sports an impressive array of guns on its front half. Best not to walk in front of it if you are a Cobra!

In its default configuration, the Raider is both very large and very long.

The gray angled layered pieces, located behind the beam magnifiers, serve as ultra-sophisticated, enemy identification radar.

The rear section does not feature a tow hook.

A pivoting double-barreled, tactical, infrared, computer-controlled laser blaster is mounted on each side of the cockpit. Be careful when playing with or storing the vehicle, as the tabs that hold each blaster in place are prone to break fairly easily. Additionally, the attached synchronized launch control power rehabilitator hose is actually a separate part from the cannon and is not simply sculpted detail.

The front section is armed on its chin with a double-barreled, dual-impact, photon cannon with laser guidance system (in addition to the cannon attached to the scout vehicle).

The Raider's passengers are safely hidden behind the shatter-resistant, no-fog, combat windshield. On the front of the main body, sculpted detail can be seen on each side - the positioning and the actual detail both suggest that these are headlights, though there is no documented evidence to confirm this theory.

The cockpit seats two figures and contains a waist-level seat belt to ensure each passenger's safety should the Raider somehow run into an obstacle strong enough to withstand it.

The Raider's primary play feature is its ability to reconfigure. The lower half of the front section becomes a single-driver scout/assault vehicle, while the rear section elevates and reveals a missile rack.

Sculpted details for the engine and other internal components can be seen on the chassis when the rear section is elevated.

The titanium support legs keep the missile rack perfectly balanced when the rack is in the elevated position.

With the scout vehicle detached from the main body, the vehicle is forced to remain stationary, and the blast-proof stabilizers flip down to maintain the vehicle's balance. Also seen here is another feature of the vehicle, the ability to rotate the upper body a full 360 degrees relative to the lower body.

Two light beam magnifiers, each featuring atmospheric coding transmission ability, sit atop the middle of the vehicle. The needle-nose missiles provide the only explosive armament on the vehicle, and for some reason these missiles are not referenced at all in the blueprints (hence the lack of a particularly colorful, adjective-filled name for them).

The driver of the scout vehicle is protected only by a tinted dome bubble. The cockpit area is not fully enclosed.

The detachable scout vehicle is armed with a 44mm, full-thrust, target annihilator cannon. It's actually the only single-barreled cannon on any part of the Raider.

Two long cylinders protrude from the rear of the scout vehicle's track support piece. It is unclear if these represent exhaust pipes or boosters (or perhaps both?).

The scout vehicle seats one figure, and the cannon can be tilted upward to an extent to deal with threats above ground level.

Some intricate sculpted detail can be seen on the inside of the track support piece. Presumably this detail represents the scout's engine and other vital parts.

The Raider is propelled by high mobility, dura-steel enhanced, all-terrain track treads.
