1993 G.I.JOE Tonka Vehicles
Hasbro acquired Tonka in 1991 for approximately $516 million. This deal made Hasbro the largest toy company in the United States. Hasbro released several G.I.JOE themed Tonka toys in 1993, including the G.I.JOE Striker, a G.I.JOE Steel Brigade Military Combo (featuring a dump truck and a bulldozer), and the G.I.JOE MP Pickup (which also featured Steel Brigade logos). All four steel vehicles were ready for rough play, and their open-top cabs welcomed your favorite G.I.JOE: A Real American Hero figures.
These vehicles made their debut in Hasbro's Spring 1993 full color catalog, Spring 1993 line art catalog, and Toy Fair 1993 catalog, shown below. The Spring 1993 full color catalog did not show the G.I.JOE Striker. Note on the Spring 1993 line art catalog, and the Toy Fair 1993 catalog the G.I.JOE Striker was referred to as the G.I.JOE Hammer.
